Mayor Janet Williams was at the Egg Hunt and Craft activity Saturday morning at the McColl Pond Environmental Learning Center (ELC) and took time out to get her picture snapped with the Easter Bunny. After completing craft activities at the ELC, children and their parents ventured outside to grab up eggs that blanketed a baseball field at Community Park. A slideshow of photos and a video will be posted later this week. (Staff photo by Nancy Huddleston)

Since 1991, we have lived in Savage. Only recently, after 19 years, did it occur to me that Savage had actually become our home.
The Minnesota River is at 705.67 feet as of 3 p.m. today, which is 3 feet higher than Friday.
The river rose above the flood stage of 702 feet Thursday night (March 18). It can now be seen from Highway 13 in the backwater areas along the Minnesota River Valley Wildlife Refuge.

Savage has jumped on the Google bandwagon.
That bandwagon is being driven by SCALE (Scott County Association for Leadership and Efficiency) and Scott County, which are ramping up efforts to convince Google that they ought to be a test community for high-speed broadband network.
The Minnesota Department of Transportation and the Minnesota State Patrol plan to close two Twin Cities Metro area roads today at approximately 6 p.m. due to flooding.
Highway 101 will be closed between Flying Cloud Drive and downtown Shakopee. The suggested detour route for southbound motorists is eastbound Highway 212 to southbound I-494, to southbound Highway 169, to Highway 101. Northbound motorists can reverse the route.

Last weekend, the Credit River was the cause for concern, but now all the attention is focused on the Minnesota River.
The Credit River in Savage felt the impacts of the quick spring thaw the weekend of March 13. Here's a video of the river from some locations throughout the city:
