I am just letting searchers know that the clue came out at 12:00 am on Saturday, June 20th. My friends and I went looking and someone had already been there before us and searched the 4 small trees by the horseshoe pits at Warren Butler Park. I believe that they fould the 2009 Dan Patch Horseshoe and they are holding onto it and not turning it in. I wouldn't be surprised if they wait until Tuesday - that would be really sad !!!!

Finding the Horseshoe Sunday...
Back to page topFinding the Horseshoe Sunday (Father's Day) morning was exciting! I'm glad we didn't give up. Fortunately our household is a majorly wired home and we employed emails and pictures to the DPHS and Webmaster of the DPHS website to get the word out that it had really been found.
Thinking, that with Father's Day and Razors Edge not open on Sunday or Monday, we wouldn't be able to turn it in until Tuesday - it was great that the DPHS monitor their email constantly and were able to get back to us in quick time!
Thank you Jens and Greg for taking time out of your Day to respond and verify the finding of the shoe!

Back to page topSee the REAL announcement about the horseshoe being found in the "Breaking News" alert at the top of this page! We got our information straight from the horse's mouth, so to speak! The horseshoe was at Boudin's Acres Park, not Warren Butler Park. The cluemaster must have had a different "ringer" in mind than those found at the horeseshoe pits. Look for the explanation of his clues along with the information from the Meyers family about how they cracked the code and found the shoe!

Back to page topI am so bummed out that the person that was seen leaving Warren Butler did not have the Horseshoe. I refused to look anymore and gave up, really believing it was found and just not turned in. My friends and I actually searched Boudin's 4 times since the June 13th clue. We even searched the wood chips at the playset. Just not in the right place. I "congratulate" the Meyer's family and I am very happy for all of you! You look like such a nice family!
Ode to the Hunt: Another...
Back to page topOde to the Hunt:
Another year of horse shoe hunting has come and gone,
With clues generated from the knowledge of Savage history buff, Jens Bohn.
Our families set out with determination and a map of our park lands,
But once again, sweet victory slipped out of our hands.
Three lunch lady friends, with their children in tow,
Through perseverence and brainstorming our friendship did grow.
Much was discovered about Savage, so rich in history,
from a visit to the library to help solve the mystery.
Great time and effort went into the search,
Appointments and obligations were left in the lurch.
There was no time to dust, or to clean out the grout,
As for dinners, too often, our families went without!
Many battle wounds were earned in the quest for the shoe,
From stickers, aching backs, woodticks and a fire ant attack, too.
Much has been gained in our search for the shoe,
New places, and faces, and many a good laugh, too.
So, hats off to the clever cluemaster extraordinaire,
Who led us on a merry chase through public places of Savage, so fair.
Thank you Cluemaster, we raise our glasses in cheer,
As we get back to our lives, we can't wait 'til next year!
