The Hand Print

Joyce Bohn has owned the Peacock Inn for about 10 years now. When she bought the Inn she lovingly restored it to its former glory. She took great pains to make sure everything was right and hired a professional group to restore the woodwork that is through out the Inn. These people set up scaffolding and spray stained the woodwork and repaired any damages that befell on the lovely woodwork. “They took great pains to be careful” Joyce told me. “They were sticklers for perfection.”

Through the years the wood work has been washed and polished and every part of the Inn is cleaned daily and prepared to welcome guests within its majestic walls.

As you have read before in many of my posts, Joyce has allowed me to have my ghost hunting class there. With every class something has happened. June 6th class had the most activity so far, voices were heard, and a cat was heard. A lickerish aroma was present. No lickerish is in the house, (no one like it). Students were touched and a very interesting photo was taken. I did go back and try to recreate the photo and I was not able to do so. I still don’t know who was in that photo.

My last class on June 20th also come up with some surprises. Perfume was detected in the dinning room; a wood smoke aroma also was detected. My students also got a very clear evp in one of the rooms, and as I was teaching the class, I saw a man walking up the stairs.

But something very interesting happened in the last class. I was showing one of my students, Bobby, how to use the emf reader. I showed him that even though the meter may spike, he needs to look for a probable cause, such as wires. As Bobby practiced this, he was following the wires of the chandler from the foyer to the stairs. As he climbed a few steps he turned around to check the emf meter and yelled out. There in the woodwork was a hand print of a very long hand. It was in a position where it would be uncomfortable for a average size person to put his hand. That person had to be quite tall.

I quickly got Joyce and we examined the hand print. “In all the years of cleaning that woodwork I never saw that before.” Joyce said. I asked her to check with her daughter to see if she had noticed the hand print before. I waited a week to give Joyce enough time to ask her family if they had ever seen the hand print before. She told me no one ever noticed the hand print. Even long time renters of the Inn have not noticed the hand print before. A pond closer exanimation of the hand print some writing has also been noticed near the print. How did the hand print get there? That is unknown.
