Charges are expected to be filed Monday against the two people arrested in the shooting that occured Wednesday afternoon in the 3100 block of Little Crow Drive on the Shakopee Mdewakanton Sioux reservation.

The two men have not been charged yet, said Lori Lambrecht the Scott County Attorney's Office manager. "We requested and received an extension," she said.

Police arrested two men in connection with a shooting in the 3100 block of Little Crow Drive on the Shakopee Mdewakanton Sioux reservation Wednesday afternoon.

A 28-year-old Prior Lake man and a 22-year-old man from White City, Ore. are currently in custody and awaiting criminal charges at the Scott County Jail, Lt. Randy Hofstad said.

A 41-year-old Minneapolis man was shot in the back and a 26-year-old Minneapolis man was assaulted at about 1:49 p.m. on Wednesday. Both men were treated for non-life-threatening injuries at Hennepin County Medical Center, Hofstad said.

Police believe the White City man pulled the trigger that shot the Minneapolis man, Hofstad said. The two victims and the two suspects did know each other. This was not a random shooting, he said.

Police arrested the Prior Lake man near the scene of the incident at another home in the 3100 block of Little Crow Drive as he was trying to leave on foot after parking his truck in the garage shortly after the shooting, Hofstad said. The White City man was arrested at that same home after police conducted a search warrant, he said.

The Minneapolis man was shot with a .44-magnum handgun, Hofstad said. The gun was recovered after police searched the home where the shooting took place, he said.

Police do know a motive, but did not disclose it as the case is still under investigation.

Mdewakanton Emergency Services, the Scott County Sheriff’s Office, Prior Lake, Savage and Shakopee police responded to the scene.

“One of the main reasons we were able to come to a quick resolution to this case was the assistance of the Savage and Shakopee police departments and the Scott County Sheriff’s Office,” Hofstad said.

Little Crow Drive is on the Shakopee Mdewakanton Sioux reservation, near Prior Lake’s northwestern border with Shakopee.
