Mayor Janet Williams was at the Egg Hunt and Craft activity Saturday morning at the McColl Pond Environmental Learning Center (ELC) and took time out to get her picture snapped with the Easter Bunny. After completing craft activities at the ELC, children and their parents ventured outside to grab up eggs that blanketed a baseball field at Community Park. A slideshow of photos and a video will be posted later this week. (Staff photo by Nancy Huddleston)
Samuel Sarafian, 6, of Savage, leaps a puddle at the end of a crosswalk on West 126th Street after school got out at St. John the Baptist Catholic School Monday afternoon (March 15). Students enjoyed walking home on a beautiful afternoon that reached 60 degrees for the second time this week. (Staff photo by Shawn Hogendorf)
Although viewing the Minnesota River in Savage is difficult, it can be done, as seen in this photo of the old swing bridge. The bridge is located at the northern end of Vernon Avenue, which is not accessible to the public. Many years ago, the swing bridge was the only river crossing for residents south of the river. It is no longer in use and sits open so that river traffic can pass through the area easily. Watch this Web site for continuous updates on the level of the Minnesota River.
