Although viewing the Minnesota River in Savage is difficult, it can be done, as seen in this photo of the old swing bridge. The bridge is located at the northern end of Vernon Avenue, which is not accessible to the public. Many years ago, the swing bridge was the only river crossing for residents south of the river. It is no longer in use and sits open so that river traffic can pass through the area easily. Watch this Web site for continuous updates on the level of the Minnesota River.
